CENTAUR PROJECT APPROVED: LIGHTWEIGHT CERAMICS TO GO MULTI-FUNCTIONAL

On February 19th 2020, the CENTAUR project on “Ceramics with sensing capabilities for high-temperature applications” was granted by the M-era.Net programme.

This research project is led by Prof. Daisy Nestler from the Technical University of Chemnitz in collaboration with the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) and the Technical University of Liberec (TUL).

The project proposal was the result of three working groups collaborating together:

Working group 1 on materials supply and development (led by MERGE);
Working group 2 on characterisation and modelling (led by LIST);
and Working group 3 on design and smart functions (led by TUC-ETIT).

CENTAUR aims to develop a family of functional materials based on oxide ceramic matrix composites (CMC) for the aerospace and automotive sectors. The project will start in May 2020 until 2022.
