ELCA Insights: The 5th Edition of the ELCA Newsletter

The fifth edition of the ELCA newsletter is here featuring interviews from industry experts from the JEC Group and the European Commission and with a spotlight on ELCA member Polymeris. Take a read to see what the ELCA has been working on this year so far!

The year of 2024 started with the kick-off of the ZEvRA project for Horizon Europe, an ambitious initiative conceptualised by the ELCA partners that aims to revolutionise the automotive sector by demonstrating circular solutions for 84% of the material mix in electric vehicles. Led by FraunhoferIWU, the project counts with the participation of top EU OEMs (Volkswagen, Stellantis, Toyota MotorsEurope, Škoda). SALIENT embarks in its second year of implementation with promising results, like the Ecodesign Guide for the Automotive Industry, which is openly available through its website. This is the last year of the AMULET project, which will have its final and closing event at the KOMPOZYT-EXPO® International Trade Fair for Composite Materials, Technologies and Products in Krakow(Poland) on October 17-18th. Thirteen SME consortia will be there to showcase their innovative lightweight solutions at TRL7 for automotive, aerospace, energy and building sectors. On the verge of completing the first year of work after the summer, GIANCE has started its first trials with the novel graphene-based materials after the definition of the requirements and specifications by the end-users. Strong project development has continued this year in which we have seen how lightweighting technologies can support a more sustainable use of critical raw materials and circular solutions across different sectors. This will set the tone for future projects next year. Enjoy the read!
