Last week the ELCA actively participated in the 5th European Lightweighting Network (ELN) Conference at the Łukasiewicz Krakow Institute of Technology.

The two-day event brought together government officials, academic experts, and industry leaders from across Europe to advance a coordinated lightweighting strategy in support of the European Green Deal .A key session featured ELCA board member Thomas Hipke on the panel “Benefits and Advantages of a European Lightweighting Strategy”, where he discussed how a unified European approach can drive innovation, sustainability, and competitiveness across sectors. ELCA also contributed to the session on “The Role of Lightweight Technology in the Energy Transition”, showcasing its significance in achieving a low-carbon energy future

The conference program included strategic roundtables, funding opportunities like Eureka Lightweighting calls, and workshops on emerging technologies—from bio-based composites to additive manufacturing
