On the 25th of May ELCA and the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA) hosted the Lightweight technologies for automotive suppliers webinar.

The webinar brought together experts from across Europe to discuss lightweight technologies. The webinar focused on the Indian market, discussing the most relevant technological needs and the current policy context, demonstrating a knowledge transfer from leading European experts to India.

The following main points centred the discussions throughout the webinar:

• Casting and forging
• Composites
• Plastics and rubber

During the webinar use cases applicable to SMEs adopting lightweight technologies were presented and discussed by ELCA experts from academia and industry. The webinar was joined by experts from the following organisations Flanders MAKE, Fraunhofer IWU and IPT, Karl Mayer, eurecat, Bercella, GHEPI, FADO and CLUST-ER MECH.

A particular focus of the webinar was on casting and forging, sheet metal, plastics and composites. The webinar introduced members of the Indian lightweight market to the ELCA network and identified how ELCA can support companies in the uptake of lightweight technologies. Final conclusions brought the insightful event to an end and representatives from ACMA finalised the closing points.
