On the 24th of March the European Lightweight Cluster Alliance (ELCA), the ELCA internalization project and the European Business and Technology Centre (EBTC) held an online B2B event for EU and Indian transport – and lightweight technology experts to kickstart future intercontinental collaborations.

These collaborations will aid the knowledge transfer between EU and India about sustainable lightweighting solutions and create opportunities to implement these solutions in the Indian Aviation and Automotive sectors. The day gave some interesting insights into the technological status of the Indian transport market and the opportunities that lay ahead. For
For example, it was evident that most Indian businesses were very interested in Lightweight, composites and ceramics solutions in their manufacturing, and from a survey carried out in late 2019, it was evident that only a small fraction had notable experience with the usage of these technologies.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This shows that the technology experts within ELCA can provide valuable knowledge transfer to help the Indian automotive and aerospace companies stay ahead and contribute to the sustainability goals the Indian government has set (CO2 neutrality by 2070). Hopefully, we will see a change in the right direction for the Indian transport market and soon hear about intercontinental EU-India sustainable solutions that have come forth through the efforts of the ELCA internationalization project and the EBTC.
